Sounds like someone wants to dump a nice 2.5 litre into a Nova...or other light front wheel drive car.

Volvo did a transverse IL six in the S80.
Kia or Daewoo has something like this on their shelves, too.

So in principle, yes. Not that feasible within the confines of a Nova/Saxo, tho'...

Six cylinder traverses in such exotica as the Austin Landcrab and Princess/Ambassador.

Surely the biggest problem (other than space) would be finding a suitable fwd gearbox to mate the engine to.

Guy - of course, should have remembered those.

Didn't keep Daewoo (I think it was them) from claiming the transverse IL they're about to introduce being something of a breaktrough...

My idea was for something like a Lotus Esprit style, but with a transverly mounted straight six in the rear.

Can't really see the point. Why not just mount it longitudinally with the gearbox at the back, like in the M1?
