I've got an E36 3 series with standard 4 spoke airbag wheel. Its slightly offcentre, although car tracks straight and true. Question, whats the cost to remove and reset an airbag wheel to its true position? Is it a main BMW dealer only jobby?

You don't need to remove it. Just get the tracking adjusted to recenter the wheel providing it's within the limits of the track rod ends (which it probably will be unless it's had some major kerbage).

I would say that is step no.2 Stig. As they said that the car runs true.

First, you need to determine that the wheel is centre of rack travel. Just make sure you have equal turns lock 2 lock from the point where the wheels of the car are pointing straight, not the steering wheel.

If you have equal turns it would suggest the the steering wheel itself is in the wrong place. (there other ways but that is the easiest without getting your hands dirty)

If not equal turns it would suggest that the tracking has been performed with the wheel off-centre. Then you would need to have the tracking done.

It is generally the latter but i have come across on a few occasions where someone has re-fitted the wheel a off centre.

The wheel has indeed been fitted off centre. Tracking has been checked (it wasn't the tracking that was out)and the wheel has been reset in its original position. Thanks for your help guys.
