Why have a 325 if you can have a 330 for similar money. Dont forget the 330D tho...

I've got a 330D sport auto saloon...
does everything I ask for and more!

Easily as quick as my E28 M5 across country (not quite as exiting though) and a whole lot easier on the wallet.

and free servicing to boot!! Hurrah!

ok is the diesel really as good as the petrol?????????
I'm not concerned about fuel consumption so is there any other benefit?? also is there any other things i should be looking for, they all seem to come fairly well loaded.

Havent driven any of the "new" petrols the closest I get is an E36 328.
The power delivery isnt as smooth in the deisel obviously and it purrs like a lion with a soar throat but you can hardly tell it from inside.
I have seen threads about leather quality in the E46 but if you've got kids I wouldnt have anything else, they've dropped all manor of things in mine and there hasnt ben a spilage a wet-wipe hasnt dealt with yet!
My boss has got a manual 320D and she's always complaining about bouncing of the rev limiter so Im more than happy I've got the switchable auto.
I bought mine 6 months old from a BMW dealer in portsmouth which was 2K cheaper than any other in the network of equal spec.. aparently they try and poach a lot of customers from the london dealers by undercutting them. Petrol or deisel you cant go wrong its a BMW!!

After having a 330 ‘on loan’ for a couple of months, admittedly not liking the 3 series image, the engine alone was enough to persuade me into buying my 530. And I’d always said, I would never buy a BMW!
That 3 ltr (6) lump is simply fantastic.

Yes, IMHO the 330d is the best 3 series available.

I ran a 2001 model for 70000 miles and it was and still is the best car I have ever owned. And I have an E39 M5 now, and I reckon the 330d is still an overall better package...

For those diesel sceptics out there just wait for the new BMW 535d! 272bhp and 413lb/ft of torque!

I have driven 3 variants of the new generation 3.0 diesel and have to say they are spectacular! Just think what an after market tuning company can do for your 3.0 diesel? And then think if the same said tunner then upgraded your new 535d......300+bhp and over 500lb/ft of torque. Your talking seriously quick A to B BMW's.

Make sure you have a good go in a sport before you buy. I know they look great with the 18" mv wheels and bodykit but they are very bumpy. Trying to do the national speed limit along the back roads near me makes me feel sick let alone the passengers! It also tramlines a bit on roads with camber and over white lines - a bit annoying and again due to the big wheels i think

My old man has a 330d sport manual - the engine is fantastic. Amazing pull in gear because of the torque and 40mpg all the time - i don't think there is a better blend of performance and economy. Certainly worth a test drive - possibly more expensive to buy than a 330 petrol but they will hold their value better i think
