ipod & itrip in a 3-series

Does anyone have experience of running an ipod in a E46 via an FM transmitter like an itrip or equivilent? Do they work OK or simlpy a waste of time?

Tried one in my Boxster and that was rubbish, especially in London.

I've got an iTrip mine in an e34 M5 (sorry not an e46), and it works fine as long as you pick a very clear free channel for your area. I picked 88.1 and set the volume to about 75% on the iPod.

3,500 songs at my fingertips - as long as I keep the iPod next to me in the coin tray!

I just need a wireless steering wheel based controller and screen to see what I'm selecting!
