E38 gearbox noises

Gents,
Just purchased an E38 (728) with a steptronic gearbox.
Only been driving it for a few days, and its the first automatic I have had for a good few years.
When pulling away I have started to notice a slight whine from the gearbox as it builds up to change gear.
It only seems to be when moving off from a standing start, and when increasing speed to change from 1st to 2nd. There is also what appears to be a rapid clicking sound, possibly related, possibly not.
Otherwise the gearbox seems fine, and the gear changes are very smooth, kickdown also works fine. There are no error messages on the MID.
Anyone else had a similair problem, or am I being paranoid?
