Have just picked up my new (to me) 525i Touring.

I was after a sensible all rounder to replace the Chavtastic Cavalier V6. It's got leather and A/C, plus this wierd double sunroof arrangement that I haven't quite worked out how to open and close properly!?

More details here:

Any idea what to expect economy wise? My 530i struggled to get 20mpg.

Congrats! Nice one! Very practical, smart, comfortable car!

If it's a 24V 525i the fuel economy will be 'good'...can't say exactly what good is but my wife has one and it's probably the least juicy BMW we've ever owned...and we've owned a lot.

We lived in Glasgow when I bought it and I flew down to London and collected it in Surbiton (south of London), filled it up and drove it all the way back to Glasgow on 3/4 of a tank of fuel! That maybe either be a function of having a massive tank (not sure what the capacity is...but I don't think it's got an excessively large tank) or just good fuel economy.

Just be thankful if your double sunroofs actually work at all!..apparently they are a real Achilles heel. Ours doesn't have them (A/C instead....rare to have both); our BM Specialist at the time in Scotland said: "Good!"

Thanks Derin.

It is the 24v Six. It sounds every bit as good as the V8 one I had, and a lot more muscular than the six I had in an old 320i.

It came with about 1/3 of a tank of petrol. I've done about 70 miles so far and it's used about half of that? If I can get 400 miles + from a tank I'll be very pleased.
