I have a 328Ci (2000) and I'm replacing the mirrors (I've smashed the passenger side one hitting a bird) with electric folding items off an 02 Cab.

The drivers side mirror of the cab has no glass in it so I need to take the glass out of my original mirror. Has anyone got any idea how to do this?

Not 100% sure about the E46, but on my E36 they just pull off - need quite a sharp tug, but they are just on some spring clips.

On the E46 there is a plastic part at the botton that has a notch in it and if you move it either clockwise or anticlockwise (cant remember which) with a small screw driver it releases the mirror. You access it between the bottom of the mirror and the outer case. You may find that the mirror also has double sided tape as well so you just need to prise it off.
