E46 door/window seal squeak
Discussion
I've had my 2002 320d for a couple of weeks and am very pleased with it, the only thing I can't seem to cure is sqeaking from either the window seal or door seal (not sure which it is) as you go over rough roads - any one else had this - any one got a fix?
It's a minor niggle but the car's so quiet otherwise so it's bugging me....
Thanks in advance

I had the same problem with my 2001 E46 coupe. My squeak came from the door trim panel and I fixed it for good by doing the following to both doors:
1. I determined exactly where the squeak was coming from by going around pushing against the outer edges of the door trim panel whilst driving until I found the problem area - mine was in the bottom rear area of both doors.
2. Open the door and carefullyinsert a large flat edge screwdriver between the door and the door trim panel at the bottom rear corner - you may want to use a cloth wrapped round the screwdriver to prevent damage to your paintwork.
3. Gently pry the two apart (you'll here the clips make a snap noise - but don't be alarmed by this) - work along the bottom of the door and up the rear edge a little until you have enough gap (half inch or so) to be able to fit a half inch wide strip of HIGH quality rubber draught excluder (sticky on one side and about 4mm thick). I used a black rubber strip (as I have black trim) of about 12 inches in length on each side.
4. Place it centrally so that only about a quater inch is visible below the trim panel and so that it finishes just before the door trim panel curves upwards at the back.
5. When placed, push home the door trim panel fully until you here all the door clips snap back into their sockets. Job Done!
It was such an annoying squeak that I found myself getting agitated when driving, and you don't expect that from the likes of a BMW, but now it's fixed it is perfect once again... Hope this fix works for you!
