Fermit, just to say i took your expert guidance and ordered a bottle of that.

I'll put up some before and after pics when it arrives and i do the seats. The seats are ultra pale, almost white leather. Will be good to see the colour restored smile

Thanks for your input!
No probs. I use LTT deep clean myself (still have a gallon bottle of it from my trading days) on both our Stressless and Nattuzi sofas, and on our BMW. Use white kitchen roll. If there is muck you can clearly see it transferring to it, to inform that you need to keep reapplying (until all you're seeing after wiping cleaner off is a wet sheet, no muck)

Edit to add. If there is anything else needing removal from the pigment, eg dye transfer, speak with Judy at LTT, she's always happy to assist.

Nothing I've done today, but an advice request, this thread possibly having the broadest reach. Now in a position of having sorted all of the cars (335i E91) foibles, I'm looking to start the performance upgrades. In prep I want to change the rather crap charge pipe and upgrade the intercooler to an Airtec one, before re-mapping. I've almost decide on a VRSF charge pipe, this one - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265416009832?epid=50468...

Are there any other recommendations anyone has, which are better and/or cheaper?
I have that charge pipe with a Tial BOV.
Does what it says on the tin, you can't really tell a difference, just the peace of mind knowing that its not going to blow apart!

It was the PO owner who fitted the BOV, I can't hear it drivers side, but apparently you can on the passenger side, the downside is you get a light oil mist after a thousand miles that needs cleaning up as it dumps to atmosphere, I'd use a recirculation valve if I was doing it myself.

What I really like about the engine in mine (N54) is being twin turbo, it sounds and drives in a naturally aspirated manner. I've just watched a few clips, as not familiar with the purpose of the valves you mentioned. Is a blow off valve an item which releases all the turbo 'air' in one shot? A mate had something he referred to as a 'dump valve' on his Renault 5 GTT, which to my mind was a tad 'look at me', which is not what I'd want. Could you possibly give a basic summary of how a recirculating valve differs, for a guy with fairly basic mechanical know how?

And yes, like you, it is the back of my mind worry that the standard charge pipe isn't up to much! (esp if turning up the boost)

Also replaced the Intake camshaft position sensor as I kept getting a P0344 error code and the car would stall once in gear and trying to apply any throttle.

As a bonus, I think I also found the cause of the P0444 error at the same time, and luckily found a piece of heat shrink that would bodge a repair up.

Just one rear door lock actuator to go before I can book it in for the MOT.

CCC swapped out for CiC with Dab. Much more modern looking and user friendly.

Before:

After:

Sound system upgraded to Logic 7 also which is fantastic!

Just the no boost from small turbo to sort next weekend.

Great work - E60 5er? How easy/hard to do the swap? (As an aside, nice colour combo cool)

I have the Logic7 in the E63 630i - sounds awesome. music

Very nice!

Was the Logic 7 hard to fit?

Yes E61, thanks, the wood works well with the cream, seems a bit of a rare choice at the time as I couldn't find any breaking with this trim. Had to buy new from BMW.

Luckily had someone who had done it before, I would have been well out of depth. Had to cut the rear door cards to fit the new speakers etc, couldn't find anyone breaking one with the logic 7 door cards in cream.

But 100% worth the upgrade.

How did you do the CCC/CIC swap? Is it plug and play? Did it need a lot of rewiring/coding?

If the Logic7 in the E61 is like the E63, you're right quite involved. Subwoofers under the seats etc. Worth it though. A really really good stereo is one of the most underratred features in a car imo.

You’ll be fine with that; they’re all much the same really. I think I fitted a Masata jobbie which didn’t do anything unexpected.

I'm always put in mind of a chemistry set or something from a weather station when I see this pic?

I've been trying to get to grips with late 80's alarm technology today. Believe it or not, having the hazards flash 28 times every time a door is opened or closed gets very tedious, very quickly. Apart from that the E36 is a joy. I just wish it sounded a little fruitier so if anyone happens to have an old Eisennman in the garage please say hi. smile

MOT and scheduled brake fluid service done today on the 125i- two advisories, one for front brake discs being pitted/scored, and one for a weep on the diff output seal. Pretty pleased with that as it's 14 years old and on over 94k now which is by a comfortable margin the highest mileage car I've ever owned and probably the least troublesome still. laugh

First time I've used this particular BMW Independent as I recently moved and they were great- mentioned my driveshaft woes and they actually suggested just getting the reluctor rings done which nearly every other garage refused to even attempt, so I'll be able to get that sorted and do the diff seals while they're there.

As for the advisory on the discs... guess that justifies a 130i front brake swap. laugh

I really do think the 125i is the most consistently built BMW ever, as they all seem to have the same minor issues about the same mileages hehe

I had the diff leak about the same mileage - although bizarrely my guy just topped the oil up in it and it hasn't been an issue since. My reluctor rings went about the same mileage also, they were salvageable at that point, but when they went again at 174k they weren't unfortunately. Can happily report the 120d driveshafts that were fitted instead seem absolutely fine.

I've got an issue with the nearside front brake disc as well that appears to have got very hot at some stage according to the chap who looked at it, but he says to keep an eye on it rather than change it. I've considered the 130i brake upgrade, however I haven't found the standard brakes especially lacking up to now, so we'll see.

Mine ticked over 176k just before I went on holiday, and other than a flaky one touch driver's window seems in rude health.
