I then realised that we’ve had the car just over a year and works out what I’d spent in 12 months and cried….its basically the purchase price again albeit a lot if the cost is discretionary stuff like wheel refurb, bumper painting and suspension refresh.
I've done the same on mine, although mine was spent over 10 years rather than 1, but as a counterpoint I was paying someone else to do most of the work. In fairness though, you've got a properly sorted 330i out of it - looks awesome.

It soon adds up especially the money that you choose to spend on stuff like a suspension refresh of painting bumpers. This year should be a bit easier on the wallet so it’ll start to even out. Paying a garage to do the work would have been brutal. In fairness though, you've got a properly sorted 330i out of it - looks awesome.
Got the 170k mile suspension replaced on my daily f30 320d, thanks to Kevin Bird who overnighted the parts and helped with some instalation questions and Calum at checkpoint garage for fitting the b3 birds springs, dampers, extra bushes and sorting the alignment.
A bit stiffer at low speed but worth it for the much improved dynamics, improved ride comfort at speed, increased control and steering feel, should have done it earlier.

Birds suspension is really bloody good. I really rated the B1 kit on my 130i. A bit stiffer at low speed but worth it for the much improved dynamics, improved ride comfort at speed, increased control and steering feel, should have done it earlier.

That sounds spot onA bit stiffer at low speed but worth it for the much improved dynamics, improved ride comfort at speed, increased control and steering feel, should have done it earlier.
I looked into the Birds kit for my F31 but couldn't justify c£1300 on a static set up and went with Bilstein B4S and Eibach pro kit springs which have been a superb addition to the car in all fairness (but that was part of a full suspension overhaul too)
These cars do come alive with new suspension; it's amazing how jarring the OEM M Sport suspension can be!

Quick wash for the Z4 tonight and a top up coat of wax.

The damaged black trim has been replaced by silver trim wrapped in carbon fibre.

I’m taking it to Spires tomorrow for a proper alignment.

It is indeed…it absolutely hammered it down on the way to the alignment place today. My fault for having both cars clean at the same time! Managed to was the F31 before... Its now lashing it down...

Beading looks cool though

I had the Z4 aligned at Spires this morning and I’ve got to say it’s been transformed.
The previous local chain had it driving ok, but hadn’t really done a great job (it felt like the front and rear ends were doing their own thing).

It’s been transformed. I know that sounds OTT, but it’s so much nicer to drive now with a better turn in and a much less nervous feeling when pushing on.

So far I've had to replace both front lower thrust arms (TRW ones from Autodoc); gone with Moog. Both ball joints have failed; still felt tight, but you can feel them moving up & down and you can hear it when driving slowly on rougher roads; bit of a pisser but is what it is and can't be arsed trying to refund via Autodoc
But the F31s going to my pals on Friday morning next week for a full alignment check over, as it's twitchy as well when driving now; even though it's just those arms I've replaced!

I'd never had a car aligned before, but after changing the ride height and wheel sizes on my Z4 I had it done by Will Gibson at TWG who races Legends and is also ex-Sytner. And like yours my car really was totally transformed.

A month or so ago we had a couple of warm days and I noticed the A/C in my 3 Series was struggling to cool things down.
The earliest booking I could get for a diagnosis with a loan car was today, so I took it in this morning. It seems all it needed was a regas so that was a relief, but the way the weather is at the moment it hardly matters.![frown](/inc/images/frown.gif)

Sorted the insurance for my Z4 today and for once it was a pleasant surprise. I added a couple of extras like protected no claims and it was £328 fully comp for 12k per year. I’ve got £38 cash back due soon too. I think that’s the first time ever my insurance has been less than £300. Result.
I’m now in the fact position where the VED is a chunk more than insurance.

MOT last week threw up a 'distorted wheel' on the 340i. I had that done today as well as the wheels refurbed from the original rotten machine cut to a grey powder coat. All in £260 cash.
It was service time as well. I'm thinking of selling so decided to keep the full BMW history up, £240 for the oil change (pains me) but even my local Indy wanted over £200.
If I don't move it on its also extended warranty time at £359.
Six pretty good years from new (pre reg)...keep or move on for £19/20k ? (purchased for £30k when you could)
To replace with what - £10k cost to change is my limit and avoiding luxury tax on something like a 235i / 135i is impossible.
