I dont think it matter how vigorously I visit this or any other fourum. In my opinion I dont like it and think its ugly. Dont get me wrong I like BMW's even drive one myself but i dont like this.
Not sure if its just me but when a manufacturer puts a range on engines in a "sports" car that start with a 1.8 it kind of dilutes the rest of the range. If you see a Z3 (not up close) how do you know if its a big engined jobbie or a 1.8

god, it cracks me up the way that the people who are most eager to scream ugly are the most vigorous forum visitors. Take your heads out of your asses and look again. This car has real presence, bulging fenders, a broad grille, intricate details like the turning-signal repeaters/logo in the fenders (although that diagonal line it sits on may be the most uncomfortable line on the car), this car, if nothing else, completely ditches the somewhat feminine details of the old z3. At most, it shows that when Bangle sets out to be different, it doesn't always have to be as ungainly as the trunkline on the 7-series. Oh, and while I'm at it, yes, I do think the trunkline on the 7 series is too high, and the gaping panel gap from the c-pillar to the lid itself accentuates the visual heft. Otherwise, its a pretty imposing sedan, if much less graceful than an s-class
Err. My head is not up my arse, I just don't like ungainly looking cars, this has the lines of a bit of flint, and has the dubious honour of following in the footsteps of one of BMW's poorer efforts of recent times.
Then again being one of our neighbours from across the pond you have different ideas of what constiutes beauty, form and function in an 'automobile'.
It's worth mentioning:
Yesterday I've read the Technik und Motor supplement from 9th July's Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
(I know, it's a bit old - spent too much time with PH )
Author Wolfang Peters gives a short info about the first pictures of the Z4:
Despite the fact that TVR is quite unknown in Germany, Wolfgang is either well informed or a keen reader of Pistonheads
Wolfgang, liest Du hier mit???

Yet the first pictures of the new Z4 reached us. Not until spring 2003 the car will be delivered to Germany - fortunately. It gives plenty of time for habituation, and nobody should say that it wouldn't be necessary. We shouldn't prejudice.
However we're not sure if these pictures are not a typical British hoax made up from the blokes at TVR on the island. [...]

i have to say, after shedding a dry tear for the Z3 the Z4 is a much mor pleasing effort. agreed not to all tastes (!) but a vast improvement over the previous attempt... rather like it myself.
of course, how it drives will be the real clincher...
now, where did i put my curling tongues?

The Z3 is so retro cute and, especially with a six banger under the hood or the M version, is an absolute thrill to drive.
Nothing much good I can say about the Z4. As far as looks are concerned, it is a bitter disappointment. Enthusiasts buy roadsters for their eye appeal and for the performance. I don't know about performance, but even the original Tiburon looks better than the Z 4.
I beg BMW to escort Mr. Chris Bunge (misspelling intended) to the typing pool before he can do any more damage.
