Just over £100 with the 5 forums discount via Cotswolds BMW pal; TBH I was happy paying that as the top quality aftermarket ones were close to £80 and for near that; I'd rather have OEM and the OEM fitment/quality etc!
They are boring I know; but it's the little details
About what I paid for mine. They are boring I know; but it's the little details
Even the posh aftermarket ones are a bit crap. The OE ones do last well though, but it still stings handing over £100 for some car mats.
I bought the fancy Platinum Option from carmats4u which was recommended on PH (seems quite popular in the Aston Martin section).
They are very nice, in fact probably too nice/thick. Certainly lend an air of luxury to the car. Will be putting the rubber ones back in once we get into Autumn/winter and risk of mud etc.

That colour looks fab
Thanks, yet to see another X5 in this colour. I've forgotten how nice it was under the layers of dirt!d_a_n1979 said:
Haha
It does mean I only paid £30 towards them
But the platinum ones you linked to were the ones I looked at and TBH; I'd rather go with OEM as their fitment is perfect and they are very plush!
Fit is great with these tbf. I looked on eBay for OEM X5 mats but could only find them in grey and was too lazy to email the Cotswald guy. Speaking of which, need to email him about a new gear knob for the 630i.It does mean I only paid £30 towards them

330i had some work done today - O/S front wheel bearing, was very worn. Also gearbox mounts.

Ordered some 20” Veemann VC7 alloys from BM Autosport & Eibach springs for the 630i.. Bit bored with the oe 218 style alloys and ‘rally car’ arch gaps..
Any pics yet?Thinking of changing the alloys on my 630i. Needs two new rear tyres soon. Runflats all round so want to replace them all. Alloys could do with a refurb. By the time i do all that i'm well on the way to the price of a new set of rims anyway (man maths running rampant!)
Looking for inspiration!
Tested out the OE BMW wireless headphones I got from eBay for the X5's RES. They work great!
I bought the ones that were specific to the RES. Anyone know whether any other wireless headphones (BMW or otherwise) will work with this system?

That’s a nice upgrade. I hate the small screens, especially the earlier ones with the inserts either side.
Dropped my car off at the body shop today for a rear bumper repair/ paint. They’re painting the diffuser too; dark shadow metallic like the later cars in gloss rather than the crappy satin finish from factory.
We’re off this week and it was nice to enjoy her 125i with the roof down in some actual sun. Have that a quick was because it was hanging after the downpour we drove home from Sheffield in last night. She’s pulled rank as well and wants to use her cat for the trip to the Elan Valley on Friday (weather dependent).
Makes sense, you wouldn't want its fur to get wet. Dropped my car off at the body shop today for a rear bumper repair/ paint. They’re painting the diffuser too; dark shadow metallic like the later cars in gloss rather than the crappy satin finish from factory.

I ‘generally’ avoid conflict with the taste Police.. but every now and then, I have a wobble Bought a second hand remote control for the X5's rear DVD player from a seller in Lithuania. Was not a lot of money (and still needs to be coded to the system by a BMW dealer!), we'll see if it arrives, in what state, whether it works and what kind of additional import charges I'll need to pay.
Estimated delivery Thu, 09 Sep - Mon, 11 Oct
They are very difficult to find and the ones from the States won't work with UK models. They are needed to get into the menu screen of the rear DVD system so you can change the input, screen brightness etc.
The one for sale was actually labelled as a remote for the webasto auxiliary heater. I looked into this and found that in actual fact, the remote for that looks like this:
Lightbulb moment as one of the 'fobs' supplied with our X5 was indeed just like that. I had no idea what it was for and in fact, neither did the seller! Basically additional heating unit so you can activate while in the house and it'll warm up the car without having to turn the engine on etc. I knew our X5 had the auxiliary heater, but didn't know how to activate. If only I'd known over winter. I wonder if it still works. Reportedly it can only be activated at temps <16C.
Bought some wipers for the E91 (rock and roll I know!)
Looking to buy a DAS-6 polisher. Lots of kits on the market with Meguiar's products, Chemical Guys & Menzerna.

I know there are some keen detailers here, any suggestions as to what's best?

It seems really good so far. It’s more powerful than my old DAS-6 so takes less effort! Can’t fault the service either.
125i is looking good. Makes me think I should get the Z4 out at some point, but 1) Lazy 2) Only 2 seats (although one could argue the latter is a perfect reason to leave wife at home and just go out with my son )

I’ve always had good results with Menzerna polishes. I usually start with a medium cut polish (2200 in their range) with something like a Hexlogic green pad before moving on to a finishing polish (3500) on a finishing pad.
However I’ve recently bought some Scholl Concepts S20 which is a one stage compound which seems pretty good with a Flex purple pad. It’s obviously much quicker than the Menzerna products that I’d usually use.
The above is all based on my experience with BMW’s which tend to have hard paint. It is a bit of a minefield when you head down the rabbit hole though!
Thanks for the advice. Yes..looks like it could get complicated/expensive! You definitely need to get the Z4 out….just choose the person you like the most or go solo to be fair
Alone again.Naturally.
As an aside, finally done a Readers' Rides thread for the X5.

Hey G3org3y
Ever thought this thread should be renamed "what has your BMW done to you today?"
Routine jacking up, front beam jack pad decides it wants more from life, and leaves part way through (now in front of rear tyre)
My wooden pad splits, and the car slips off, punching a hole through the under tray
Still, could have been worse. Tbh it was my bit of wood that caused the slip I think, but a new longer reach jack will be on order, along with a new jack pad.
st could have been worse as you say, could have cracked the sump! I’ve got one of the big Halfords jacks which has a decent cushioned Jack pad and is ideal for the bmw jacking pads, especially the front center one. My E92 is very low so I have to drive the front wheels onto 4 thick planks of wood, 2 either side, to get a Jack under it but those Halfords jacks are excellent. Following an incident with my E91 almost falling on me (normal jack, gravel drive, mostly my fault tbh) I use one of these now:
