Hi i have a '98 Legacy 2.5 Quad Cam' and its got a misfire frown When its starts up in the morning its ok for about 2-3 mile then its starts. It happens more when its at optimum tempritcher and/or when cruising around 30mph. If i go beyond 4000 rpm it's fine and gos like a bat outa hell but anything under and it juders & wants to die. When im at lights it starts dieing it pops & bangs the revs go really low then just befor it dies it revs up. As im driving the misfire will go away and come back. Can any one help pleas?

I assume then that plugs/leads OK?

All your engine earths OK?

Does this happen when wet/rain or all the time?

Also, what else have you eliminated ?

Had any work in general done to the car recently ?

Is yours N-a or turbo btw?

Sorry for all the questions smile

i suspect MAF sensor or Lambda my self hence why i bought the diagnostic kit because check light keeps going on and of all the time so i thought insted of keep replacing part by part and costing an arm and a leg hopefully the diagnostic kit will tell me what it is. smile

MAF sounds most likely to me - especially with the greasy old K&N filter, they tend to kill MAFs. Try a squirt of MAF cleaner before replacing anything and see if that helps.

You had it remapped with all that stuff on matey....? There's some bit airflow changes there that can affect MAF sensor readings !

Remap on a N/A? i personally wouldnt bother if im honest...

Your car should have a self diagnostic plug under the dash, no reader needed, have a look under steering column and you should see 2 green plugs, which when connected with ignition on, but engine OFF should flash out any fault codes. Will give you a list of codes if you need it/ want to try smile
