Help!

I'm looking to insure a 1998 Jap Import Previa/Estima.

Has anyone got one insured in the UK?, if so, what are you paying and who with?

any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Yes a 92 Lucida Emina X 2wd model. Thats what the model is called as opposed to Previa in the UK.

Sounds like yours is petrol (2wd), what kind of MPG do you get from it, has it cost you any serious money since you have had it?, we are looking for a reliable commuter doing 50mile round trips. Would you buy another?

No it is (was) a diesel, just sold it yesterday funny enough. I need a bigger tow car.

They are not brilliantly economical, they do weigh 1.8 tons!, but then it is a big MPV 30-35mpg seemed average with my driving!, so the womanly touch maybe 40mpg. The X models are mostly 2wd being the base model, the 4wd's will struggle to do 30mpg.

Nothing major went wrong with ours it cost me £2950 to buy, did 30k miles in it, spent £315 on general maintenance & just sold it for £3200 in need of some new tyres. It still looked like a new car when I sold it.

I'd buy another one any day, lovely to drive, very lazy drivers cars, great for dogs, bikes, camping, <1600kg tow car, etc. Jap reliability and zilch depreciation at these purchase costs.

So long as you follow the advice at the top, all will be well. Just avoid anything that has any water fault symptoms.

If you want a bargain, pop down to the A1 Motor Auctions at Southampton, plenty to choose from & all for about 2K. 10 years & older so K plate only needs & mot & registration. That's where I'll be getting my next one from, email me if you want some advice.

Are there any really nice clean one's at the auction, i want to buy the best condition i can, i won't mind paying more than £2k if i have to. Are you thinking of buying one again soon?, if so, i would happily come with you as you seem to know..., let's see now, about
%100 more than me about diesels, and probably petrol too. Have you ever bought at an auction before?
