No worries dude. It's nothing to do with me. I know the guy selling it vaugely (he's dropped a 3S-GTE into a FWD ST182 - and added a bodykit of his own design).

Dont think ill bother with the ecu Mr E. I reckon itll work out better if i get a motech programmable.
At least if i do it that way itll allow changes to made in the spec later on, something the Toyota ecu's dont allow...apart from an f-con or suchlike.
Thanks again for finding out tho mate, its much appreciated.

Motec (or some other form of standalone ECU) is superior, but significantly more money.....

....want to lend me some?

No worries dude.

BTW, Apparently I'm producing a fair bit of black smoke on full boost. I'm pretty sure it's just a combination of the car overfuelling and lots of soot in the (big) S/Steel pipe from 'normal' use.

It's not white - so no coolant.
It's not blue - so not oil from the turbo.

Not too worried, but would appreciate your view.

Sounds like excess fuel to me mate.
If it was any other color then yeah id say a possible problem.
As far as i know, the GT4 always did throw a fair bit more fuel down the pipes on full bore that some others, but i doubt its any real cause for concern.
Look at it like this, at least youre not running lean!

Basically my view. I know the ST205 overfuels like a bitch - but I'd rather it did that than run lean. Bye bye piston #3......

Suspect it's a combination of unburnt fuel, and soot from a week of pottering around on the inside of the pipe.

Might get the lambda sensor checked. But the car is running perfectly well, so I suspect it's ok.

Pops and bangs like a real WRC car when hot. It's great.

Yeah ive experienced a higher incidence of that too since i raised the boost and installed the dump valve.
At the moment you get what i used to call "that turkey gobble gobbling sound" like the rally cosworth sierras as the air flapper resonates.
Its only when on full bore that the dump valve does its stuff with a sharp but short fshhhh....(thats the same as a fish without the er...ish...)...none of this pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh rev...pshhhhhhhhhhhhh as you go from first to 2nd at 30mph...
Also get a nice bang or two out of the back end when on light throttle and going thru the gears.....

I want the "flock of chickens" wastegate noise....

Suspect the car is getting louder this weekend. Summer is here, so the soundproofing/insulation under the bonnet is coming off.

Heat reflective tape above the turbo manifold might be a plan....

I refer the honourable gentlemen to the thread where we discuss my abilities under the bonnet.

Now then. The bonnet. That's at the pointy end, yes?

Er.....i am led to believe you are correct sir!
However, the pointy end...is that in front of the non pointy end?

Get yourself a good manual Mr E and read all about the intricasies (cant spell it) of the GT4!
Then prepare to amaze all and sundry as you do an "engine out" job over the weekend to put in a new clutch, and all in the comfort of your own garage too!

Actually, a WRC gazebo would be rather cool.
