Integra Type R.

I was sitting in traffic on the Kingston one way system yesteray, on my way back home from Richmond when I spotted a very clean Honda Integra Type R in Championship White.
As the bloke drove past me from the opoosite direction I found my self giving him a little nod, at which point he looked at my MR2 and gave a nod in return...
And then I found myself really wanting an ITR (AGAIN - I have a bit of a thing for them).
I know certain people sometimes frown upon the fact that the car is FWD and has a somewhat small power band, but has anybody here ever driven one, and if you did what did you make of it?
I love 'em. Such machines...

It's ironic you mention the Integra R ...... I was filling up with Optimax last night and got chatting to a guy in the queue at the till who had one. He mentioned that he liked my Mitsubishi Galant in silver colour as he had only seen them in dark red. So I jokingly said that the silver ones were much faster ....... to which he responded that it was not nearly as fast as his 'R' ...... it was all said in good humour and he was also joking as well - but MEANT it, of course.
I had great pleasure in blasting past him a minute or so later and would love to have seen the look on his face when he realised that mine was the VR4 Galant with 280 bhp twin turbos!! Lol - no contest.
Having said that ...... they are great cars ...... go for it again.

Ive had mine a couple of months now and was dissapointed at first.
but now Ive got used to it, its a fantastic little car. Thrashed it to within an inch of its life today on the way home from Bruntingthorpe(135 through the trap on the way out )
The handling is supperb in an involving kind of way. it takes a lot of work to get the best out of it.
(had it oversteering 3 times on the way to work the other day) thought i was inducing it by lifting off but i wasnt!
love driving it but i would like it to have more power and 4wd/Rwd but all in all its a great car that you can have a lot of fun in but you have to ring its neck everywhere :0

Lack of torque would really p*ss me off!
I get annoyed with mt MR2 when nothing much happens below 3000, so I can only imagine how frustrated I'd be when nothing happens until 5000RPM or so.
In truth they're probably not fast enough for my liking either...
I still love 'em though.

Youve hit the nail on the head there! no torque I think thats its only fault. Having had Turbo's for the last 5 or so years this is the first thing that struck me no torque nothing under 3k is ok but try it till under 7k !
having said that I have got used to it and as long as I drive it like its a motorbike(makes sense to me ) and go through the corners at 7k revs so there is enough power to pull me out of them its ok. Otherwise it just bogs down.
but it is fun to drive and shouldnt brake down. should I have bought something else? not sure yet the jury is out. I'll let you know when i get back from the nurburgring.
I was considering an ITR for a very long time - Even arranged to meet somebody from the Evo mag forum and have a go in theirs.
It is a pretty special car (I found when driving it, it has a rather "mechanical" feel to it, rather than the somewhat detached, wooly feeling (or lack thereof) you can get from alot of modern cars) but in the end I went for the MR2 - More consistant power delivery (i.e. you don't get it all at once at 7000RPM), and RWD, and looks pukka, and cheaper to insure! Not as involving to drive, but then as I said the ITR is a bit special in that respect, I think.
