Evening,

Thinking of putting an order in for an RX8 to quench my need for speed until income and family dicdates I can move back into TVR's. Has anyone here got one? Impressions? Just looking for a few pointers. It's either that or a Scooby, need at least a 2+2 and 25k is very top limit ATM.

BTW - Saw a PH add for a new one quoting something like "skip the 6 months queue", I was told by Mazda when they called me this week that it's 6-8 weeks delivery....

Regards,

Neil Vince

Neil,

Check out the Jap Chat section of the forums, there are a couple good threads on the RX-8 there.

I think its a great looking car......performance is excellent, but depends if you are comparing with the power and torque of something like a TVR....like with like takes some beating, with some of the finest real world handling and brakes under £30K.IMO.....try one!

I have to agree on the lack of good looks. I *thought* it looked great until I saw one on the road - and then had to reach for the sickbag! It might have some good angles but it also has some really awful ones too!

Reminds me of a squashed PT Cruiser. Which can be bad.

Yet to see one in the flesh... something I'm now worrying about

The rx7 was the best Mazda designed I think.

I saw my first in a pub car-park on Friday night, and from a distance it looks great. There are some really nice touces such as where the oversized wheel arches are married into the body work, the rear of it is quite nice too. It had nice big alloys, and big disc's all round as well which were nice.

But then on this model the front looked like a MX5 but taller, the rear doors had huge panel gaps in between them, It had oversized wheel arches (felt a bit OTT). It then started up and wasn't impressive at all

I liked the pictures, I liked the reviews, I liked the movies on TG but in the flesh it just didn't work. Then again, WildfireS3 S3 looked much nicer yesterday in the light that in the dark so maybe the same will happen with the RX8?

Great looking car (IMO), not too sure about the back of it but the rest is ples. Got to say for that kindda car, it'd be pretty high on my list. 1.3(??) aswell, developing over 200 bhp, that's going some.

be careful if you're gonna be claiming business mileage as you'd only be able to claim for a 1.3

I'm afraid I have to agree with jimbro1000 comments, I don't like it at all especially the back-end. A friend of mine is contemplating buying an RX8, however as it's only my personal opinion I wouldn't try to talk him out of getting one if that's what he wants!

RX7 was the best model IMHO

Now then Neil me old mucker: would a 'pre-owned' TVR not be of any use to you?
Who says you have to be up to the eyes in debt to have fun?

Oi! Neil, No!
I think I know what you like, and I don't think you'd be impressed by the RX8 performance - go & prove me wrong by all means, but I think you'd get more of a kick out of a Scooby
