I'm about to help my brother buy an S14 200SX (phase II with thew evil head-lights). Anyone got any ideas of what to look for. Any stories good or bad about the car would be appreciated.

If it's got more than 70-80k check the Turbo very carefully. Regular oil changes throughout it's life are compulsory too.

Touring versions are better value and a manual box makes proper use of the available power.

Careful on roundabouts if it's raining on the test drive!

Plenty around, cheap as chips. Used to own one. Love 'em.

I was going to keep that going, "not if we get there first" sort of thing, but the last sentence gave it away a bit.

How does it look? I haven't seen one in the flesh, oo er!

The "Kylie Minogue" of Nitro trucks (makes you dribble)

The engine is a lot bigger than the old one (or was I just stood closer). I wish I'd asked for one of them.

Anyway stop thinking about that and find me a 200sx!!!

Done it

As you may have guessed Doobs and I are Brothers. We saw a met purple S14 with 58K. It's brakes are knackered (only discs and pads) but we got 650 off the asking so that's that covered.

It's not a touring but it does have air con. I don't think the lack of leather will be a problem, it looks bad when it's old and is too slippy for high G corners. Also the std version doesn't have water collection devices stuck to the sills below the doors, hence the lack of rust on the one we saw.

Enjoy it G, K&N, exhaust and chip next, get that diff doing some work!

I'm a little jelous, my S13 is going to look decidedly tired next to that!

Fancy a go over Macc tops when we get to Whaley world??
