I have been considering a NSX for track days and other stuff. Having talked to a number of vendors they all seem to have owned the cars for short periods. One told me that tyres are a problem new rears every 5000mls. Does anyone know why the short period ownership, is it boring after a while? Anyone any tips on buying used and problems to look out for. Thanks

As for short ownership I know quite a few people who have had them for years and others because they are a supercar want the thrill of owning one.
My NSX 1 does get used on the track occasionally
It holds it's own with most things
My car has 18" and 19" rims that look wonderful on the road but create to much grip on the rear.
I was going to put 17" all round for track.
But as I have 2 proper racecars I would be going a bit to mad to have another permanant trackcar.

Just some further opinions re: the NSX. If you're intending it purely for track use, I'd suggest looking elsewhere - the NSX is best at the 'and other stuff' bit. Don't get me wrong, I've tracked mine twice since I bought it 4 months back and its fabulous to drive on circuit but the brakes take a pounding and rear tyre's will scrub through pretty quickly. Basically its a little too soft and heavy to be a regular track tool; I'll be doing 'occasional' track days in mine.
On road though, it's just phenominal - sublime handling, amazing ride, wonderful drivetrain, superb comfort and useability. The list of pluses just goes on and on.
The chap I bought mine from had owned it 4 years, and most NSX owners I've heard of have owned for at least a couple so I'm not sure about this high turnover of owners thing? Personally I can't see me selling for a while as there simply isn't anything else which will do the job I want as good as an NSX (well, for sane money anyway). I sold mine due to it rapidly reaching the 100,000 mile mark, but apart from that it was a fantastic car.
Not as powerful as the latest supercars though and it's a little heavy to be a dedicated track car, but for the price it's a very nice car.
It does everything extremely well, is endlessly reliable and completely useable. If you want something hairy and lairy, then look elsewhere. If you want something refined, different and fast then an NSX is the way to go.
Recently a fair few cars have come up for sale via the uk owners list, could be coincidence, could be the new model, could be that the NSX is old technology now? I don't know, but if your looking to buy, now is a good time...
