That is a lovely, lovely, lovely car.
Having test driven one recently I was very, very impressed. As I said to the bloke - I'd rather have my Boxster S. But a Boxster....nope I'd have the S2000. Just as quick, just as nice looking, just as reliable, great and fast roof, Honda engine (240bhp!) reliability and, not unimportantly, Honda pricing.
Great package.

Note the 8k rpm revlimit!
In my Boxster S you need to keep the revs above 4K to really have the car "on the boil" and get the most out of the power. It redlines at 7K or so.
Where does the power come in on the S2000? Do you need to keep it above 5K or so? Anyone done a track day in one?
Lots of track days Don - I have an S2000 (I think we met at a Basingstoke meet once last year - the one we went to Vernham and were the car display for the afternoon, I had the black S2000) - vtec kicks in at around 6 to 6.5k on the current model. Peak torque is at something like 7.9k. On the track, heel and toe is a definite advantage to keep the engine on the boil although from about 4k the engine pulls well, it's not as 'gutless' as some claim (usually those who haven't driven the car). It is, however a car you have to relearn to use the gears in to take full advantage of the accelleration available.
The new S2000 is getting a 2.2, rather than the current 2.0 litre engine to increase low end torque - a change driven I think by the US market. The bigger capacity means they're lowering the rev limit to compensate, peak power remains the same at 240bhp however.

We did indeed meet at the Vernham Dean bash. Shame it clashed with Pistonfest this year...thanks for the reply...

Isn't this the S2200?
With a longer stroke to increase the displacement to 2200cc.
Thus improving midrange torque but lowering maximum RPM.........
Yes, but AFAIK it will still be called the S2000. S2200 just sounds odd

Looks nice. I'd still go for a year old Boxster S personally.
You wouldn't get a year old Boxster S for £26k, more likely you would need another 10 grand or go back another 2 years or so.
