Chaps,

I have a friend with a 1994 Nissan Micra, 1.0 litre.

It doesn't drive well. It kangaroos along, jerking lots, despite the most delicate throttle feathering I can possibly muster. There is something wrong with it (and has been for some time, if the story is to be believed.)

Friend has been told that the throttle body is possibly to blame. Knowing a little about the way the greasy bits on a car work, but nothing about Nissan Micras, this sounds plausible. However, is there any way to test this?

Where might I find one for sale? Is a second-hand buy a worthwhile saving? Does anyone know of someone who has one for sale?

Also, how hard are they to change? (I'm pretty handy with spanners, but don't fancy spending hours outside swearing at cars in the freezing cold.)

Thanks,

Oli.

I doubt the actual throttle body needs changing but it might need adjusting.
Don't try adjusting it yourself!

Has anyone suggested a dodgy fuel pump as a possible cause?

Tell me more ... it sounds like the throttle bodies are very common points of failure on these cars, but I have not come across anyone who talks of adjusting one.

No - is it? The problem is very intermittant. I would expect fuel pump problems to be more constant, surely?

Edited: The $ in your name prevents the quote from working properly ... interesting!
