Hi i'm thinking of buying a second car that i can spend alot of time improving and making seriously fast but can i not decide between

Mitsi GTO TT
Skyline R33
Supra

Or something i haven't thought of,not really fussed about WD aslong as it is not FWD.

Any help deciding will be appreciated.

Skyline's and Supra's are great, don't know much about GTO's.

It all boils down to how far you want to mod the car, and I suppose costs.

You can pick up a decent Skyline GTST for £6.5k if not less, or a GTR for £8k.

Supra's are great cars too, just don't get a NA.

As I said it depends how far you want to go and what you will use the car for, I mean the Skyline sits 4 adults with no problems, but if your stipping it out that's not a big deal.

As you will see from my profile, I would say Skyline, but I'm looking at buying another car at the moment and a Supra is on my list, along with an RX7 and an Sti Type R V-Ltd.

I was thinking Skyline or Supra really the GTO came as an after thought because its a twin turbo 4x4 but some people say it is too heavy but i don't know anyone who owns one??

It doesn't need to be a 4 seater as my regular car can carry four. This one is more for performance and design it doesn't matter how long it would be off the road.

Spending up to between £5-7 for purchase, any mods would be done as and when i have the wedge.

Main concerns are speed, availability of parts, reliability in standard form and quantity of different parts available.

Personnally I would go for a well sorted GTST. You could get a mint R32 with goods mods or R33 with stage 1 mods for your price range, then just spend money tweaking it.

You could also look at a 200sx, with an excellent spec for what you want to pay.

Maybe spend about £4-4.5k for a 200sx and then spend the rest on doing your own mods?

GTO's dont have a reputation for much modifying, turbo Skylines, Supras etc on the other and hehe

If you need a car with space for 4 inside then the Skyline is best bet out of those options (or EVO/STi if you go for 4wd, which are more practial cars than Skylines etc)), if space isn't such an issue a 200SX could be better option - smaller, lighter, (so easier to make it go fast) SR20DET is a motor with a lot of tuning potential, the lower weight should make for better, more chuckable handling than the bigger cars.

I was looking at buying a GTO a couple of years back. I was put off them by a number of people saying that electrics can often go wrong - which is apparently expensive to sort out. Also they suffer from piston issues...??? Still like their looks though cool

GTOs are one of the fastest and most luxurious cars I have ever been in. Proper Bond like and full of gadgets too. But I would say you really need to know your mechanics and electrics to own one or it's even more expensive. Things ALWAYS go wrong on them and it's best if you understand the car and can fix it. Ex of mine bought one, 3 days after we were on our way to Festival of Speed and the oil pump seized, was too late by the time we found out - new engine needed - but did give him the opportunity to uprate EVERYTHING. There's a big owners club and lots of useful advice out there and judging by the ones I saw at Castle Combe Japfest this year, I'd say there's ample opportunities to mod - it's Jap after all!

Not a great lover of the 200sx just don't like the way they look. I'm findin it really hard to decide on which one!!

Right the GTO is gone i don't know enough to be able to maintain/fix it all the time and the Rx-7 is too small inside.

Skyline,Supra or poss Evo. My mum owned a tommi for a couple of years and i couldn't afford the insurance when she sold it for a 911 cry

Just bought an R33 GTR and its fab. Highly recommend any of the variants, but I always stick by the addage "if you want a fast car, start with a fast car"...

So see if you can stretch to an R32 GTR...very few things will touch one! The future potential is massive.....bang per buck, little else really.

Sorry, I'm so biased at the moment....

Oh, I also used to have a company 200sx and loved it. 140,000 miles, thrashed every day, never missed a beat! Brilliant!
