Unfortunaltly, unlike GMan, this thread isnt asking for advise about buying a 2nd car. its about what car to get 2nd.

Just passed me test a couple of days back, and currently have a micra Super S. Now ive had this for nearly a year now and realistlcaly, it was never going to last more than that. the rust has set in, and the miles have just crept over 110,000.

So come febuary im hoping to have some new. Cars on the table at the minuet are Sunny SR's, Civic ESi vTec's, posiblly a Yaris T-Sport.

Now there are reams of non-jap options, but i really want to stay jap.

Insurance is the killer at the minuet, with me only being 17 (18 in january mind) so a 1.6 is really my limit.

any suggestions or comments on the suggested cars would be apreiciated!

cheers
Martin

Civic's are always a good bet, guaranteed decent handling. But Those little Yaris's are uber cool IMO.

I'm not exactly the voice of experience when it comes to these things though, so i'll just say test drive a few and then choose.

Some people have reported younger drivers getting screwed worse than usual for import MX5's (Eunos Roadster - same car, higher spec, lower price). But then again, there are also people who claim no real difference - the MX5OC forum has an insurance section that would be worth taking a read through.

Toyota Starlet! Seriously underated cars - you can get a 1.3 turbo and they are true pocket rockets
