not quite in your area but I used a guy once in Newbury seems to have a good reputation among Subaru owners, certainly if I still lived in the area I would use him:

I use Phil at Park Lane, Alton. He was recommended to me by a friend with an imported MY99 TypeR. I've just had my MY03 STI serviced by him and was very impressed. He's happy to chat about options and does a very thorough job.
For instance, rather than just look at the brake pads, see they're fine and move on, he removed the calipers and cleaned off all the crap. Sensible money and no main-dealer let-downs. Free coffee too!
