Had a fun day at brunters yesterday until the final run before lunch time.

1st run (mid boost, lifed off way before the beams coz I was scared!) - think it was a 172.

2nd run (mid boost) - 169.

3rd run (high boost) - 161 and only 1 rotor working by the time I got back to the pits.

Probable a cracked corner seal, nothing major but a rebuild anyway. Idle is only on 1 but at 3k and above it runs (and boosts) like nowt's wrong - the usual signs of a small failure. Hopefully not too much damage to the turbo - entirely possible it ingested a lump of steel!

Chance to get the intake and exhaust ports opened up a tad (think grand canyon) and a general refresh. Water Injection needed too I think

Nah but I have a supportive fiancee who's response was "right, lets sit down, work out how much it'll cost to fix, and get it working"

I'm a bit dissapointed but also gives me a reason to do the porting - which would've been hard to justify had it remained intact!

Quote for engine out, porting and refresh (seals and gaskets, not including replacing tips/springs) is ~£1.5k so, if the damage isn't too extreme it should be ~2k which isn't all that bad really!

Wondered where you'd gone Iain?

Was going to pop over and say hello, but you'd gone by then....

Ah well, see you at the spring meeting hopefully?

Part of me wanted to see your face though Gaz... evil hehe

Shame things went pear-shaped... reckon there's a 180mph run in that car! yes

Glad you made it home in one piece Iain.

My face would have been a picture, as I've been stuck in the 150's crowd since Vmax4, and getting a bit ed off with it now. I need a new SMIC before the new Vmax season in the spring, I might hoik the boost up too...

You should have seen Iain... there was a look of eek he went a bit white yikes which was then followed by and finally bounce

(Sorry Iain, you looked a bit rattled when you got back hehe )

Gaz - see you at BTaP.

That perfectly sums it up. Huge dose of disbelief and shock.

I hope they were timing the speeds on the 'take it easy first time' run!

I'm not 100% certain the car's geared for much more than late 170's BUT the auto diff would help and also make use of the power band better as it has a longer ratio.

Next year is far enough off to have everything sorted including moisture injection to keep temps in check.

Plus RG's kind offer of pre-hoon bacon butties is too good to not be there

Trip home was great, no jams and not too many numpties.
