Luckily not mine, but it was my mates, he'd only owned it a month aswell. We parked up in morning after a 4 hour drive on the north field, full off japanese cars and then went into the show. About 4.00pm we came out to find a empty space next to my car yikes

We phoned the police and got a crime number. We then spoke to some of the officals at the show but they weren't really interested as all the cars are parked at the owners own risk. My mate is just about got over the shock now and his insurance company have told him there is nothing that can be done for 6 weeks just in case its recovered, but were not holding our breath.

This is just a heads up, I know im going to be a lot more careful when leaving my car at shows from now on, just thought I would let others know.

Sorry to hear of your mates bad luck

A tip from a mate who goes to lots of shows... in these large field car parks, once you are parked up just pop the bonnet and take an HT lead or similar with you - he started doing it after an attempted theft at an event - theives dont seem to want to try and solve why the car wont start, they'll just go find another that will!!

Yeah thats a good idea. When I was having my car re-mapped the guy told me if I wanted to immobilise the engine to reset the rev limit to 50rpm via the hand held control. The start motor will spin it quicker than 50rpm so it will never spark.

My mates car had an alarm but I dont think it had an immobiliser. The car was completely standard apart from the exhaust so its not like it could be broken for parts. I just wonder if they target the standard looking ones as they presume the owners haven't upgraded the alarm.

Theives are obviously finding ways around immobilisers as some serious high end cars are getting nicked. A FQ400 stolen from Santa Pod was never recovered and that had a tracker too.

I remember reading about that, they could tow it a garage and then set about finding the tracker.

I really worry about leaving mine at shows now, might have to resort to taking an old banger
