Simple question: are they any good?

I just can't get them out of my mind. I love the concept - small, blown, revvy, "what styling?" styling - with go faster bits and a tiptronic box. Awesome! But would I be stupid to swap my old but dependable Audi A4 tdi quattro for one?

I used to have untoward feelings toward a Cuore Avantzo, luckily I grew out of it

I've no experience of the YRV except when one "beat" be off the lights one time.

The engine is a peach, revvy and plenty of grunt all round, it's very cheap and good value really, it's reasonably quick in a straight line and feels a lot quicker like most small cars. With some fettling it could be a babyfaced assassin at the traffic light grand prix if that's your bag.

The looks are a personal thing, I dont really like how it looks myself. The handling isn't all that brilliant, fine for around town stuff, but it's certainly no B road warrior.

The looks I can ignore, the handling can be tidied up, but what utterly ruins the car is the awful automatic gearbox. It may be a 'tip-tronic' but crap-tronic would be a more appropriate name. I suggest you try one for youself to see if you can live with it. I'd rather get a sporty Sirion GTVi really, much nicer to punt around in if nowhere near as fast in a straight line.

If you want a driving machine in the true hot hatch style you will be disappointed. If you just want a shopping car with enough poke to embarass many other cars in a straight line then it's probably what you want.
