Apexi, citing intellectual ownership of its products has forced eBay to withdraw all of its Apexi listings, inc USA.

Try a search if you don't believe it

Ah! appologies for confusion, it's mainly the air filter cone sales they have a bee in bonnet about (cheapening the brand name etc), you wont find many of them listed, usually a squillion of em.Also eBay are still busy clearing all the listings.

Erm, how is this legal?

If you buy a product, surely you have the right to sell it?

Saying that, a few years ago I sold a Jacob & Co watch on Ebay. I took some very nice photos of said watch, as well the box and extra straps and also the receipts. The auction clearly stated it was a genuine Jacob&Co and the receipts clearly showed where it was bought and how much it cost. I also used one of Ebays templates for the page layout that fit in very nicely with the watch (the template was, red, blue, yellow and black lines).

After I'd ended the auction to someone for £3.5k Ebay deleted the listed, emailed me saying it had been pulled because Jacob & Co said it 'infringed their copyright' (without actually going into any details how) and then emailed the buyer to say they shouldn't complete the transaction.

unfortunately he'd already paid the money into my account by this time, cue some panicky phone calls from him thinking he was about to be ripped off.

ebay can be gay like that!

i've seen loads of auctions of sellers pointing out how there auctions are within all the rules. they shouldn't have to quote ebay rules but still.

the watch company should have messaged you and asked to change details on the auction or something instead of hiding behind ebay.

Oh, tell me about it. I emailed Ebay asking exactly what copyright I was infringing on and their reply was that they couldn't tell me because it was private between Ebay and Jacob & Co.

If I'm being accused of a crime (copyright infringement) then I think I have a bloody right to know what it is I've done.
