Anyone have any experience with this company..?
The new type 25 featured in this months evo looks awesome and is starting to edge in front of a roush mustang as my next daily driver choice.

Any problems with buying a non- official Subaru?
Will subaru service them and what about insurance and warranties??

It certainly looks very impressive. Even my flatmate, who'd never consider an Evo or Scooby is thinking of getting it.

Yes, this car caught me eye too. It looks an awesome package. Over 400bhp and 420ft/lbs of torque with 300ft/lbs available at 3,000 rpm. You just know it'll be blistering quick and able on fast country roads. The attention to detail looks second to none and it looks good too - the new nose is a great improvement.

This is definitely the sort of car I'd like next.

As for Litchfield, I just know of them as an importer of mainly Jap performance cars.

Iain Litchfield is a good bloke with a long track record in the business.

The conversions are carried out by Powerstation who have a very good reputation in the Subaru world.
I happily drive up to Tewkesbury from Southampton for them to work on my Subaru.

I can also vouch for the quality of the AST suspension.

Put me down on the list of wanting one too!

Although to be fair, I think its pretty out of reach at the moment....

Mind you, I've got a hankering after an EVO 8 FQ320 I saw the other day.....

I don't think the Mustang even enters the equation: this monster has to represent one of the most compelling arguments for classical, road based hooliganism since Stephan Roeser took a wrong turn along a route signposted 'Eiffel Mountain Pass.'

Pure, unadulterated driving party

One for the uber cognoscenti and if you have the means, why ever not?

Sublime lunacy!

but as with all Scooby's, you end up becoming another spec of water in the pea-souper mist which is car ownership.
scoobies are more common than 45mph in 60zones.
i enjoy my driving, of course, but my chariot has to massage my eyes.
well in my humble opinion anyway

still 400 galloping steeds does make for a rather compelling arguement scratchchin

I think the FQ400 has been criticised for being less driveable than the 340. It has noticeable lag compared to the lower output models and is therefore less useable. Power and torque come on higher up the rev range.

The engine in the Litchfield Type 25 looks pretty stonking as it dishes out more power and torque lower down in the rev range. It'll be a hoot to drive.

Peter, slighty O/T and a little off-the-wall suggestion...

Why not flog the GT3 and combine the money you get from that with what you would spend on a 'Stang etc - and buy something ridiculous!

Mr D. It is the roush mustang I am talking about here. 420bhp.with all the kit that upgrades the brakes and the handling.( came third in last year'r real world ecoty).
As a car on its own it looks and sounds pretty awesome. And you must admit they are as rare as a willing taxpayer.

But just from the point of view of dynamics, I must admit the scoob is really starting to gnaw at me.

This will need to be an everyday car plus I will use it for the occasional track adventure if I dont fancy taking the gt3 (i.e. when its wet). Both cars attract attention in their own way, and both cost about 40k.

PP,

Fair point, hmmm... scratchchin

Let's see; all the best parts of a Spec C (i.e. EVO standard steering immediacy), defined by that off beat thrum yet all the while, underscored by 911 Turbo shove...er...

shoutGet the Scoob! hehe (You know it is inevitable...)

{Then bring it to V-Max, give me the keys and spend the 'noon in the company of sauted rat!}

Yes, absolutely but since my M5 appears to have survived it's Vanos scare (and me inhabiting a county boardering Yorkshire), I'm inclined to let the IXs fall even further as the Xs arrive and in the meantime, swerve cunningly leftfield and for the princely sum of one crusty Landcruiser and a brace of healthy field workers, deposit she-who-must-be into the dynamically inept but gutterally profound roaring zone aka the 'will somebody please buy this before I simply abandon it at the side of the road because it does 4mpg' loonfest of the deservedly unloved but now stupidly, almost free, ML55 AMG.

Then, when EVO IX FQ340s are the equivalent of two weeks' spends, I'll be in like Flint.

Oh dear...banghead

its still based on the subaru 2.5 but its been majorly worked on by cosworth

The Type−25 short engine:

* New Subaru EJ25 STI engine case
* New Subaru STI forged crankshaft
* Cosworth forged connecting rods
* Cosworth forged pistons
* Cosworth high performance piston rings
* Cosworth race spec, coated tri − metal bearings
* Balanced and professionally assembled
* Optional billet crankshaft

hows that for cool?

That's pretty cool, hats off to Ian for coming up with that car. There is even a Porsche Upgrade Brake Kit.

I nearly bought a 1st generation T25 last year. Unfortunately the only downside when buying from Litchfields is that they don't like taking p/x's. He is is a really great guy and certainly I'd like to put some business his way one day.

Me too. Have spoke several times and visited them to test drive. Thought Ian and Tim were likeable trustwaorthy guys, but getting a deal out of them is blood out of a stone, and I always walk if I don't get what I want.
