Supra engine 2JZ- into Toyota/Lexus Soarer
Discussion
I'm having a moment of madness and think putting a 2JZ-G(T)E into another car would be fun.
How much am I likely to be able to pick up one of these engines for - for the turbo and the non-turbo?
Would I be able to buy the ECU/wiring harness (what else?) separately and would it be complicated wiring this into another car (say, an old Mercedes). Or would I best off with a 100% complete (maybe crashed) Supra to start with.
Would it be an easy install into a Toyota/Lexus Soarer with a knackered engine? Are engine mounting positions and so on the same? Would this be financially sensible in any way, or is it cheaper to just buy a Mark 4 Supra in the first place? Is the soarer the same as the SC300/400?
I know anything is possible with enough money, but I'm thinking about easier, low-cost solutions!! Labour cost is not soo bad because I can do some myself.
Likely project cost?

The most interesting 2JZ transplant I've seen was into a '91 Toyota Levin (aka treuno) race car.
They'd stripped everything out of the car, converted it to RWD and mounted the 2JZ so far back that only the front 6 inches or so was actually in the engine bay proper.
It also had an extremely large turbo bolted to it and went very very fast - very well sorted handling too, it used to run rings around the Tranzam V8s on the tighter tracks and in the wet, and was not far off in a straight line too. (Comparing with fibreglass-bodied 6-700bhp V8s)
The team that developed it have also since then built a 4.0 turbo straight-6 RWD Ford Focus which Steve Millen drove in the Targa New Zealand last year at least until it blew up
