Hi, I recently accuried an RX7 Type RS year 1999 in black. The car is totally standard apart from the wheels 17" VS and a £6k sound system. The wheels need a refurb and there is some paint peeling from the front spoiler and a small scuff on passenger wing apart from that the car is immaculate. I have had the car for a couple of months and it has just sat in my garage, my first intention was to strip the car out and race it but I have too much on at the moment for another race car so am probably just going to do the small jobs and sell on. I am looking for info about this model as I can't find anything about the type rs on the net, are these a limited edition model? Are VS wheels any good, is it worth paying £400 to have them refurbed or just buy another set? Where would be the best place to advetise a Jap car for sale when I have done the work? Whats the cars value?Any other info? Sorry for the long post but I know nothing about Jap cars! Thanks.........

Hi Tony

The best place to ask any questions is on www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/index.php

The car should be worth around about 10-14K all depending on condition and mileage. The post 1995 cars are worth more money as they can't be imported anymore and there aren't many in UK.

Hope that helps a little.

Oh and I think VS wheels are Volk/Rays wheels. They are very good wheels and cost alot when new.

The RX7 Type RS was not a limited Edition, it was bascially the top of the line model. AFAIK, over a 'normal' RX7 it has Bilstein shock absorbers, new front bar which improved cooling for radiator, intercooler, oil cooler and brake ducts. It had 17" wheels standard and an adjustable rear spoiler (lesser Type R model also had this). The Type RZ was similar to the RS but a bit lighter and is the better choice for a track car.

should look like this

A 1999 should make yours the first on the Series 8 RX7s which were the final series, so worth a bit more than earlier versions. Depending on exact condition I would think it's worth around the £11-15K mark.

If you want to sell it there is this advert in the PH classifieds.
