This is a pic of a WRC style Subaru rear wing. Would anyone pay £1800 for a fibre-glass replica? It just seems so expensive for a spoiler. What do you guys think? i know its a flipping good spolier but for somone to take a normal high rise spolier and put vains in it then charge that much does look a bit cheaky i think.

I think it is too expensive just on a scooby, plus it would be whipped off and put on the back of a saxo very quickly.

Looks like a few, I've been told that these spoilers have been known to pull boot lids off because of the downforce they create. Whether its true or not I'm a bit dubious.

Exactly.

You could get some AP 6-pots for that £1800.

How exactly is excess downforce supposed to remove the bootlid anyway? I can see how enough could bend a bootlid a bit at the mounting points if it was a flimsy lid, but for something to pull it off it'd have to be providing a whole lot of lift instead (e.t.a : or drag if it was supposed to pull it off backwards?!?). Or have I misunderstood?

As well as creating downforce which will push the boot down it'll also create a lot of drag which will pull the boot backwards.
