...heaven? or hell?

just a thought, as the RX7's thirst is well documented.. wondered if anyone had done an LPG conversion?
is this even possible with a rotary?

IIRC LPG can make very comparable power to petrol, so with a few tweaks I'm sure you could have a 300bhp LPG RX7 (assuming it IS possible with a rotary).. and then more of us might be able to afford to run one ?!?!?!

any ideas/info/links ??

there is a guy who has done the conversion on a N/A 2nd gen RX7 says the power is reduced, but not by much. Haven't heard of any FD (3rd gen) conversions

Havent heard of any significant power drops from lpg conversions (makes a lot of sense really imo) .Know a guy with an lpg 'liner, he swears it has more power, not sure about that, but it certainly runs nicely. At roughly 1/2 fuel costs, who'se arguing?

LPG has less energy than petrol (i.e. burning 1g of both petrol releases more energy). So you end up with less mpg but lower cost/litre.

LPG has one huge advantage - much cooler intake temps. It's like WI on steroids. Clean burn too. Not sure where you'd put the tank though - it needs to be bigger than the petrol tank and the FD doesn't have much space for it.

Would certainly be an interesting exercise though.

being a bit of a font of knowledge concerning RX7's, do you know of any reasons why a rotaary might not take to LPG well?? any compression issues/higher combustion temps etc etc??

Slightly OT - but there's a chap out there somewhere with a Skyline that's been LPG'd - isn't it true that turbo'd cars take better to LPG?
