Having just being quoted over £1200 for insurance on a 52 plate Honda s2000 I think I'll stick with my TVR unless anyone can suggest a cheaper option.
My Griff500 is currently about 1/3 the cost through a specialist broker(sunninghill) do any schemes exist regarding the Honda via clubs, specialist insurers or the like ?It's not that I really want to sell the Griff but I going to be using it everyday instead of it been tucked up in a nice warm garage and need something a little cheaper to run.The Honda seemed a good choice,I'am however surprised by the cost of the insurance.

The S2000 is group 20 - the Griff - is a couple of groups less?. However, I got similar quotes to my S for a Chimaera, so I dont think the difference is that much. I went through Tesco, try e-sure also...

Been looking into this at the moment. On the S2k website the best bets appear to be the old favorites rather than the specialist guys. Tesco, Elephant, Egg and Privilege appear to be worth a look. No one is using a specialist (although not a comprehensive survey). This is sort of borne out by my experiences - the Ultima site favourite quoted me nearly £6k.

I'm currently ringing round as I'm looking at more like £3.5k at the moment , mainly due to business use and using it as a daily driver - it's a Honda ffs - how else are you supposed to use it .

The Honda owners club also claim to have a deal with Livingstones insurance brokers. However, they say that they will only quote after you have become a member - barstewards! I'm intending to try any way.

My car arrives in June and will be on the road. Hopefully down to less than £2.5k by then.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't let a couple of hundred quid on insurance make the choice between the Honda and the TVR - running cost differences will easily cover that. As has been said many times on this site, buy the one that you want. The advantages of the Honda is that it may be more reliable and is easier to use as a daily driver. The advantage of the TVR is that you will possibly pull dirtier girls!

I don't know what your ages are, or where you live, but for me, a 31 yr old, in Herts, I pay £700 for my NSX, with Tesco. I also know that isn't the best deal deal around, some other NSX owners manage less than that.
