having just moved from the confines of London to sunny North Norfolk and swapping a 20min cross London commute to a 25min a/b road blast I have to say this car is fantastic round these roads, in fact it is proving so fast and adept at overtaking that I am becoming very concerned for my licence! Of course I have driven this car on many roads like this in the year I have owned it but doing so everyday brings home the effectiveness of this package; the low end grunt, the grip, the composure, no wonder this was such an amazing car when it first arrived, IMO it is still amazing, although I fear for my fuel consumption.

My drive to work is about 10 miles on b roads. Great fun in an Impreza. My old imprea was showing signs of age, so it got replaced with.... another impreza. Nothing else was really an option.

I'm trying to find a replacement ATM. If the change wasn't driven by my wife's bad back I'd have another in a shot

my stepfather is having the same problem re finding a replacement; he has had a uk spec turbo from new since '97 (150k miles, still on same turbo and just replaced the clutch) and is now feeling it is time for a new car, must have 4wd and he doesn't like Land Rovers/Rangies as he does not need serious off road capability, so he asked me what I think he should get. The only thing I could think of would be something like an Audi A4 quattro, so he went to test drive one and came away thinking lovely interior/build quality etc but it doesn't have the same feel as the Subaru so he has decided to get a nearly new Impreza again, sorry boring story!

I just can't think of another make of car that does everything well, if you get the sportwagon it is even vaguely sensible...

Had the same problem when upgrading from a '90 Legacy wagon 6 months ago - though Imprezas were a tad small so I ended up with a newer Legacy. There just wasn't anything else out there which can do the same job remotely as well. I didn't get a turbo though, which in some ways I regret but due to insurance and fuel costs my bank account is most grateful.

On my 3rd Subaru wagon now though, pretty much sums it up - I like them!
