Hi, guys. We have started putting alot of our products on ebay. But we want to know from you guys how many of you actually would buy car parts from this site? From the buyers point of view is this where you would consider buying parts? If you guys can help us in this matter, it would be a great help for us to get your views before we start adding loads of stuff on there.

I dont trust ebay tbh...

and i certainly dont trust 'ebay companies' (or people trying to look like a company).

Obviously, im not looking for hard-to-get or modification parts, which may be your primary market on there, but generally, as a rule, anything pricey or critical, i wouldnt risk it.

I Disagree. I bought an Apexi Power FC and Commander from Japan about a month ago for £430 inc postage, that's about £200 pounds less than some places sell the ECU without a commander. I bought it from an 'ebay company' and it came in 3 days. I got it installed and mapped by a professional Apexi mapper this weekend. And the result... absolutely fantastic performance. Mapped in 2 hours and the car is now a flying machine - no issues whatsoever.

I guess I did take a bit of risk buying an ECU from Japan but I checked the feedback and the seller's website throughly before bidding - all looked legit to me. Of course, If it seems fishy or too cheap, then yes, it's not a good idea, but it's worth doing with a bit a research and patience. As I said, I got the genuine article at a great price and I'm pretty chuffed.

Fensport are overpriced IMO. Sure it's good stuff and they have had lots of exposure but there are plenty of places selling the same stuff for less. Why pay more? I always look at the owner's club classified sections first.

Well we have a full workshop and all the subaru tooling but we thought we would get a selection of some of the parts we are dealers for, ie: K&N Filters and HKS etc and put them on ebay to bring in some more money. We have found that 80 people an hour are looking at the site and we thought that even if it does seem a little inprofessional, we could shift a lot of stock. We have found that we have sold all our body kits and most FSE valves sell very well. We do sell items the value of £1000 on Ebay as well with out much problem. But its really good i feel to have feed back from you guys to always keep up to date with the customers as well. We dont view Ebay as a way not to advertise, but we can see how many people are looking at each item 24 hours a day which is really handy.

Ebay is usually the first place I look too as main dealers don't stock much anymore for our cars and if they do it's usually a long (ish) wait.

I always check ebay too, I've got some great deals in the past. Don't try too hard with your adverts though, always makes me suspicious. Just keep the info clear and easy to read and let photo's do the talking. make everything look as honest as you can if you know what I mean.

i'd never buy from ebay.

i'm well aware that lots of people do, and never have problems, but the amount of people i've spoke to who have been ripped off or had troubles of some sort really puts me off. i'm sure there's some great deals to be had, but i simply can't bring myself to take the risk of buying, regardless of how good a persons feedback is. i did get a freind to order some defi gauges for me from a very well known and trusted shop on the various other forums i use, but even then i was dubious until the day they turned up.
far too many con artists and would be crims for my liking, call me a prude but i'd rather pay more and not take the risk.
plus i despise paypal in every way shape and form.

I am sure they sell well but to say we have had issues would be an understatement.

Apart from the intial richness they give, they have been seen to drop FP when hot ( I witnessed this with mine), and I have seen them leak when a few years old too. I can add numerous links to the MKIV Supra board where this has been discussed to death if you wish.
