I know that generally there is not an option to turn off an S2000 airbag, and Honda always said (at least on the original cars) that babies just shouldn't be put in them (fair enough!), but with Mrs JRM now pregnant I wondered if there was a way to have it permanently turned off by the garage - does anyone know? I suspect the nanny state won't allow it, but thought I would try.

Cheers

Not MUCH of a help, but I know the Celica's one can be as demonstrated by one of our members, his missus dropped one earlier this year and they're happy putting the baby in the front. I'll find out how he did it WHEN the damn site goes back up!

Been asked a lot of times over on www.s2ki.co.uk but I cannot remember the answer. No-one will do it for you IIRC it is a DIY job I am afraid.

HI,we have a program called Autodata, which is very useful. Under honda s2000 it says the following in how to disalarm the system:

How:
1) Ensure ignition switched OFF.
2) Remove ignition key.
3) Disconnect all battery leads, earth lead first. Make sure accidental reconnection is not possible.
4)Wait 3 minutes before commencing work.
5)disconnect SRS control module located near glove box.
6)remove module if needed.

Hope thats some help.

The S2000 doesn't have a glove box!

Well it does, kinda, in between the passenger seats behind you, and that isn't where the SRS module is I don't think.

Asked me mate with the Celica who has a kiddie seat in front - alas turns out his is so old it doesn't have passenger airbags

He suggests take to dealership and pay the cost to reassure you that your sproglet is safe. Sensible IMHO.
