Toyota MR2 gets end-of-life special
Special edition gets new interior and shiny bits
Toyota's third-generation MR2 roadster is nearing the end of its life -- and Toyota currently has no plans to replace it.
But Toyota is offering the last 300 examples to be built for the UK market as a special edition, the TF300. Each will be built to customer order, with its position in the production run individually stitched into the back of each seat and authenticated by a special certificate, signed by the chairman of Toyota GB, Shimpei Kobayashi.
Buyers keen to get a specific number – 123, 007 or 222 for example – should get in touch with their local Toyota dealer as soon as possible to place a deposit.
The TF300 features custom leather and Alcantara suede-effect upholstery. Silver, black and grey body colours are available with red leather, and red and blue body colours with grey leather interior. It gets twin stainless steel TTE sports exhaust pipes too.
Other features include electric door mirrors and windows, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, retractable soft-top with heated glass rear window, wind deflector, alloy wheels and a Thatcham Category 1 alarm.
Equipped with the mid-mounted, high-revving 138bhp 1.8-litre VVT-i engine, the rear-wheel drive MR2 TF300 accelerates from zero to 62mph in eight seconds and has a top speed of 131mph. Combined cycle fuel consumption is 38.2mpg and carbon dioxide emissions are rated at 178g/km.
The Toyota MR2 TF300 is available to order now, priced £18,015 on the road.
It may not have the MG following but I'm sure that in years to come there will be a few who go all misty eyed at the the mention of a Mister Two
Poor girl has probably had to lean on the car for an hour or so in the cold air (judging by the snow in the background) whilst some faggot photographer farts about with filters and f-stops.
But a little gentle caressing by a roaring log fire with a warming brandy or few inside her, and I'm sure she'd soon have a smile on her lips...
All of them...
