My spies tell me that a new Fensport car has broken cover.

How does a 7th Generation Celica with GT-Four running gear and 600-650bhp grab you.

Ran solid 11 second 1/4s all day.

It'd be interesting to see how they've routed the prop to the rear diff as the car doesn't have a transmission tunnel...

Looking forward to Rotorstock3 next bank holiday at Shakespere County Raceway - should be able to get a good gander at this!

So its a Gt4 in a 7th gen body.

The point is?.......

Its not like this is really anything "new" its the gt4 running gear strapped onto a different bodyshell with a highly tuned 3sgte.

And you wondered why they charge so much for their parts........look no further.

its a bit like this one:

www.rodmillen.com/UCelica.htm

except this one was made as a concept in 2000 and is 'only' 500bhp rather than 650. still has a derivative of the GT4 drivetrain in it though.

I was just about to post the same thing - it's just the same kit as their previous work but wearing a new hat.

The corolla was damn impressive having seen it at Rotorstock last year but come on Fensport, how about doing something new!!

so is this replacing the Corolla or the GT4? As they normally bring both to Rotorstock. I had the "honour" of lining up against Adrian at RS last year, at least I knew I didn't stand a chance!

With respect, they're a tuner, not a custom specialist. This is a "look what we can do with the engine", but slotted into a different car.

Basically, a ST205 engine in the same state of high tune they normally do on show cars, ST205 gearbox and diffs. One suspects custom driveshafts shoved into a 7th generation shell.

I've not seen any technical specs yet, but I'd like to know what she weighs.

True, not 'groundbreaking' but no doubt well engineered going by their previous cars.

Now a 4wd MR2 (with engine in the rear of course) would be seriously impressive..........

Not knocking the engineering at all, its very well done, cut me in half itd probably say "toyota" like a stick of rock, but its just not "original" anymore with them. ssdd.

Delta,

Are you also on Twobrutal.co.uk ? There are a few machinations on there about 4wd MR2.....basically very difficult, with problems like finding a suitable g/box and front axle, steering, mounting etc... you not prepared to spill the beans eh?

It is slighlty different from their last project, in that the Corolla was 4WD to begin with, whereas this wasn't

I will be watching this at RS for sure

Was it? I'm sure I remember reading that they basically replaced the whole floorpan to get the 4x4 running gear in. i thought it was some random jap oil burner model or something?

Edit: I'm talking total shite - it was infact a 4wd model as you say: www.fensport.co.uk/fensportcars.htm

..we decided it was time for a 4WD version and have used the latest Japanese specification Corolla RunX 4wd bodyshell. Originally imported in april 2002, as a 1.5litre Automatic

A couple of months ago I popped over to Fenies to pick up a few TRD bits and had a nose in their garage where the car was being built. I was kindly escorted out and the doors were closed. Kinda figured it was going to be something special and kept stum till now.

Indeed yes

Who at Toyota decided that a 1.5 slushbox mated to a 4wd system was a viabale market segment is anyones guess.
