unusual MR2 intercooler mount

would this induce more turbo lag on an MR2 though? intake pipe length must be longer
Well... Longer pipes certainly can pile on the lag. Imho the pipes are longer, but not hugely so. As long as the flow dynamic of moving air isn't restricted by anything I can't see it making much real-world difference.
The positioning of the the i/c unit(whilst not necessarily asthetically beautiful ) would seem ideal for cooling the internal charge temp.- and after all that is what it's being paid to do

...and if its a drag car, i bet it runs anti-lag anyway.
nope, not a drag car a gravel hillclimb / rally car. No idea if it runs anti-lag or not as I didnt get the chance to chat to the owner.

Hmmmmm, surely the angle it is mounted at encourages air to pass across is rather than through it - ie. less cooling effect. Also, it is directly in line with the warm air exiting from the engine bay. According to my limited knowledge of aerodynamics, I believe the area between the butresses will have low air pressure, so not necessarily good for forcing through a radiator?
I'm probably missing something here, anybody know if it does actualy work?

What you have said is mostly true but it still may be marginally better than having it in the engine bay as it is on the standard car.
