New Brake Discs and Pads - Running In ??
Discussion
Just got new Front EBC discs and Mintek pads added to the girlfriends Civic Type-R. Forgot to ask the garage at the time but I seem to remember somebody telling me previously that they need to follow some sort of running in before you can use the properly in 'anger' ?
Am I making this up or do you have to be a bit careful at first ?
Grateful for any advice !
P.S. The girlfriend already thinks they seem to be way more powerful than the old standard ones, dunno if anybody has had any similar experience ?

I dont know if it applies to all brake pads. But Axxis Ultimates (A pad of choise on the MX5), are bedded in by doing 2 or 3 hard 70mph to almost stopped. Then leave them to cool over night. Obviously you need to do that somewhere quiet and check theres no-one behind you at all!
Do mintex recommend the same...I dont know but I bet it says on one of their boxes...

I just got new discs and pads on the rear of the MR2 last week. The running in procedure I used was a 120 mile round trip from Aberdeen to Aviemore, over some fantastic roads and up and over the Lecht (tough on brakes if you are going for it). Worked for me, at least seem to be fine.......
ps. - On hindsight, possibly not the best method......
