200 SX / Skyline R32 GTR / Skyline GTS R33 ???
Discussion
I think I want one of these 3 to replace my BMW328 which isn't fun but I have heard the same about the GTS on the skyline forum... saying it's a cruiser.
Most rate the R32 GTR but I have had an Integrale and supercharged XR4x4 and they weren't fun as they were so surefooted...
I wasn't impressed with my old 91 200SX as it had crap seats and lagged but I'm told the later ones are better.
Ok I know people will say drive, them but you can't drive flat out on a test drive.
So who has driven any or all of these ?
Thanks
Mark

i feel qualified to answer this
as standard
200sx: nimblest of the 3. had to wait til 3500 for the fun to really begin
r32gtr: 4wd but not in the usual sense so very tail happy for a 4wd car. felt like a real driver's car - heavyish steering, keen turn-in, no ABS/TCS/SC/etc. kinda reminds me of my old Chimaera (except it didn't have PAS). accelerates the best of the 3
r33 gts-t: more of a grand tourer. tail happy, of course. fairly torquey at low end. least nimble of 3. slowest acceleration over all.
If i had to make a choice, i'd go for the r32 gtr and also tune it up to about 450bhp.
or you could buy mine.

Ok perhaps i should have been clearer, I'm not looking for the fastest, they are all fast enough.
I'm looking for something semi practical with minimal lag that is more fun than my BMW (ultimate driving machine - my arse).
It will be used for everyday driving so mpg above 20 would be nice.. so 450bhp monsters are out.

For something semi-practical, I'd go for an R33 of some sort. There's room for four adults in comfort, whereas the R32 looks a bit tighter in the back. The boot is a decent size for the type of car too.
As for driving, my own R33 handles well enough through twisty stuff, and they tend to shrink around you - although they feel enormous at first

Could you get a S15 spec-R??? That would be my choice! Or, how about a

That would cetainly be a nice wee car!!!!!

Thanks for the reply...
But then I guess the question is what are you replacing it with ?
A house.
Will probably get something like an old Elise as a stop gap. They're also much slower which means I won't drive around like my arse is on fire...

i wouldnt discount the R33, a mate of mine has a GTS-T that can (and has) blown away GTR's while still looking sweeeet
You can't really compare tuned GTS-Ts with untuned/lightly tuned GTRs. Well you can but then "I know a mate who has a Saxo that eats Ferraris all day"...

The R32 has a lot more space in the back cos the R33 has the battery bits and pieces between the rear seats and the boot space.
Thanks again...
Everything points to me getting a 200SX but I just fancy a Skyline...
This one looks interesting :

Well I had promised myself I wouldn't buy anything until i have sold my other cars...
I have just sold my Merc Cos. but have still to sell my 328 and MX5.
Really I don't do that many miles so I set myself a budget of £5,000 but I can afford more for the right car...
Whilst I don't drive that far I can't cope with less than 20mpg... (I'm just mean) which is why I thought the GTS might be better than the GTR, plus I tend to find RWD more fun than 4WD

Thanks but no.
They have had their prices inflated in the same way as Mk1 / 2 escorts have, yes an Escort is good but 10 times better than a Chevette... NO.
The Corolla doesn't have that much power, looks very dated and is expensive IMHO, anyway I still have my old Manta 16v which would seem comarable.
I have definately decided upon a Skyline.
Going to see a cheap one today... as it's local R32 GTS-t.
