I'm posting this for my uncle who has just bought a very nice Black Celica VVTi 190

The problem he has is with the Toyota Sat Nav/CD/TV which is fitted, in that its all in Japanese. He wants to convert it into English and try to get the TV working, which is set in the Japanese TV system rather then our PAL system.

The Model is NKCT-W95.

So, to the questions.

Does anybody have or know where to find (either web based or in paper form) an English manual for this system?
How do you convert the language to English?
Can the TV be converted?
Has anybody ever converted and how?

Initial searches have proved fruitless, but somebody, somewhere in the UK MUST have had one of these units converted.

He would also like to find a GB/Europe Sat Nav disc but this isn't a priority.

TIA
Stuart.

Edited to Add : Its a Late '99 car brought over to the UK in '04.

I hate to say this, but I don't think it can be done for less money that simply ripping the whole lot out and starting again would cost......

If you find a way, and are willing to share, please let me know......

Well we've just spent the last half an hour going through the system, pushing buttons and seeing what happens. Strangely we managed to pick up some radio stations which I didn't think existed that low down the range, Radio 1 on 86.5 for instance.

I'm sure there is a menu somewhere which will convert the display language into English. I think maybe the easiest route is to get a Japanese guy to go through and find the right menu

As far as the radio goes, we fitted a 'Radio wave expander' (around £20 tops, about the size of a matchbox & a 5-min job)to our Jap stereo to make it work normally over here.
