Mitsubishi Concept X arrives

European debut for new Evo

Mitsubishi Concept X
Mitsubishi Concept X
Mitsubishi is to launch the Concept-X, which was first shown in Tokyo in October and makes its European debut at the Geneva motor show in March.

It features what Mitsi breathlessly dubs an "Advanced Super All Wheel Control" drivetrain, 2.0-litre, four-pot turbo-charged engine and six-speed clutchless transmission. The company said that it "hints strongly at just what to expect from the next generation of Evolution cars".

As well as a different shape, the car features a gaping air intake, louvered bonnet, hawk-eyed headlamps, 20-inch alloy wheels and the trade-mark rear spoiler.

Unfortunately I can't see the production version maintaining that aggressive look. For a start, the leading edge on the bonnet will have to be softened due to pedestrian safety regs.

Shame, 'cos I think it looks

Then pedestrians shouldn't stand in the way. But please tell me, if a stupid pedestrian does get sliced in half by one of these, would that make them half as stupid?

Bloody right! Let's be honest, in the grand scheme of things how many pedestrians get run over anyway? I don't drive on the pavement, so why should they be in the road?! Tch!

Yup, silly focussing car design so much on the eventuality that a person may actually walk/run or stand infront of a car on the road.

Fair enough when the car is in the wrong, but surely education is better than costly engineering and design that makes cars look naff!

I just wanted to say that that is the best car I've ever seen from the front.

I absolutely love it totally, and if they don't realease it exactly like that then I'm build a company that will make it so!

Sad fact, but probably true in this increasingly stifling PC world that we live in.

Few more pics of it. The interior is rather contemporary and anybody who has sat on the rear bench of the existing Evos will appreciate the bucket seats all round.
