Hi,

Some of you have seen me about in the P&P but this is my first visit to this forum.

I’ve now got a few pennies in the bank and want to buy a used S2000 for my daily car. I’ve got about £15k to spend and want a GT for preference.

So the question is what do I need to look out for please (other than the usual uneven tyre wear, etc.)?
How steep are the bills likely to be?

Cheers,

John

I did a simple buying guide on the UK S2Ki forum a while back - www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=249683

There are also a few cars for sale there, plus a wealth of knowledge about the likely pitfalls.

15K should buy you a nice example. I would be prepared to travel for the right one and unless it is 100% then walk away - I saw one in Cheltenham that was covered in scratches and dents and was described as mint. Managed to find one in Warwickshire that was mint for the same money and with less miles.

Make sure you do your homework on S2KI first though!

If it were me, I wouldnt be too fussed about the GT pack. A lot of people with the hardtop find that they rarely use it. Anyway, if the sun is out the roof has to come down - even if it is -2C!

Yeah, but how long does it take for the roof to come down?

Search for "seized suspension bushes" on the s2k forums that was the main off putting thing. And I wanted a moonroof but it was 5k and required a roll cage

I wouldn't be put off by seized suspension bushes tbh, there are a few people who have suffered, and i think most of them have been sorted.

My S is a Jan 02 car with 118k miles on. no problems
