Your coments please, on the Toyota Hi Lux surff (Import)....I'm considering a change from my Defender 110 to something a bit more civillized, as the other half won't drive the Defender!!
The things we do for a quiet life.

Just make sure you get the 3.0l ssr-x version onwards, the earlier 2.5 ones are a nightmare with head problems.

Late shape 97 onwards can be had for 7-9k nice cars too few known faults

PM me if your looking for one, in the know on these.

Say they're shite, please, say they're shite. My g/f really wants one having been driven around Argentine dirt tracks in one for 100s of kms ... and finding it a lot more comfortable than the Chim on the M25. She also seems to think there's more space for gardening supplies in the Hilux ... which clearly can't be true. Have you seen how many golf bags do in a Chim? To be honest, given the bomb proof nature of their predecessor, the quality of most things Toyota and everything I've read about them, they do seem a rather good choice if you're in the market for that sort of thing. Which I am not. Ever. Help.

I think 4-5K is a bit nearer the mark!! My Landy can do 26 - 27 MPG. Do think the Hi lux could improve on this?

petrol or diesel? the 2.8 n/a diesel motor is absolutely bulletproof (eg over a million kms possible without a rebuild) but the 2.4 turbo-diesel tends to explode, can't get rid of heat fast enough. 3.0 diesel also very good.
