Okay, we're always being told how mega-reliable Jap metal is, even the exotic fast stuff. But what is the reality like in good ol' Blighty? Is there anyone here who regularly puts their money where their mouth is, and takes their Jap supercar... and uses it to drive to B&Q for some laminate flooring? Anyone here using a 600bhp Nitrous'd Skyline to get to work?

To start the ball rolling, here's my RX-7 RS-R, which although a bit thirsty is insured Business Class A use, to and from work and around different offices during the day. It's often carrying lots of computer kit and you can never find it in works car parks because it's a foot lower than every other car there...

Though an unusual daily driver, I'm pretty sure this can easily be beaten. Right?

My skyline is my daily driver for commuting, trips to shops, everything that isn't walking distance really.

Having said that, it's a fairly 'sensible' skyline

My Evo is the only car I own. It's a bit on the thirsty side but, hey, I knew that before I bought it.

Took it to a building site yesterday and it looked like it had just done a forest stage! Wish I'd got a picture of it.

I have been using mine for the last couple of weeks as my daily driver. Had a problem with it that I fixed, so I have been driving it daily to test it.

It's a 400bhp(atw) with Nitros Skyline.

Just can't park it in the underground carpark as it sets all the other car alarms off.

For the 1st 18mnths or so the R33 tuttle shuttle was the every day driver of choice, even when the freakishly fun Hyundai turned up. When the 'liner was off the road last summer I got kinda *into* the hyundai (and relief from 200miles from a £50.00 tank full) I'm a big believer that you can have fun in any car, making good progress in a really crappy old car is so satisfying- sometimes loadsa grunt on tap can make me a bit of a lazy driver.
So at present poor old tubby doesn't get out much, fact it'll be on SORN 'til Feb or so.

From June 03 I used the FD as a dilay driver on a round trip of about 80 miles. I actually enjoyed the trip to and from work!

Worked in town since then though so no need for a daily and the Jeep gets used for sensible stuff. Good job as the rex still isn't back from the fettlers. Did see a piccy of it the other day and the new intercooler looks superb!

The Four is my only car.

We do have another Celica in the house, but it's even lower and actually less pratical.

Another daily driver for the Rex brigade. I have been using mine as a daily driver for over the last 4 years.

I've used at least a 300 bhp Impreza for the last several years as a daily driver. Pretty tame really...

Evos, Skylines and Scoobs are ok as daily drivers because they got plenty of space its just when you get into the coupe with no boot and 2 seats that you start to struggle

When I had my Mk2 MR2 I once bought a 32inch TV...
I had to take the roof off to get it into the passenger seat, then put a seatbelt on it...

If you mean Rixio, I think he meant RX-7 rather than Caterham 7 'cos he mentioned boost - I dont' think there aren't too many blown Caterham's around?

Thanks for you input pwig.....

Anyway, can't honestly say I use the NSX as a daily driver, but it certainly does daily drive mileage (ie 12k> per year) and laps it up. I've shopped at B&Q, Tesco's, parked in London for dinner or show's, it's seen Monte Carlo & I've used it to take me to play football so it does everything Its what their for right

Absolutely, in my mind a car isn't a car unless it can be used every day!

OK I ran an MX5 (no I'm not a hairdresser!!!) as my daily driver for 4 years then got my RX7 Turbo II and Scooby WRX STi (the scoob was my daily driver for 6 months - got rid as it wasn't much fun until you were in licence losing territory) used the RX7 for a year as my daily driver (the RX has a stripped out interior and a 2.5" straight through exhaust no cat - Very loud), now I use a Puma as my daily as I was getting hacked off with getting 8-10mpg in town - not everything about a bridgeport is great! lol
