As some of you know I havent now been driving since november, thus my car has been sitting in the drive, getting bored.
Well I bought a new bumper and bonet so that I can sell her since Im not going to be driving again until 2007.
I never had any mechanical problems with it whatsoever, most probably due to the fact that the guy I bought it from became the voice of auto mk1's.
So last night I trickle charged her up, and thought I better get her running properly again so I can sell it. Jumped into the car and tried firing it up but all im getting is the solenoid performing a large click, then sometimes the power dwindles a bit before going full power again. [ie the dash lights flicker a bit].
Because of the acident the bonet has been left slightly open, so I sprayed a lot of WD40 into the engine bay just a few mins ago just incase its VERY damp in there. Will try again in a few hours.

Anyway, in the meantime, any idea's as to what may be causing this ?

Sounds like a duff battery - did it definitely charge up?

I believe the fuel pump relay under the air filter can sometimes fill up with water and stop the car from running properly, might be worth checking that.

Failing that ask on GTOUK.

Aye the battery may just need replacing.
I'll go and try it again now.
