Totally different animals, take the time to build your OWN opinion, they are both great cars, and other people can only guess what makes a car work for you. It's your money after all. Find owners and get out in both, and enjoy it -don't try and test pilot cars on sale to gain the knowledge you need, buyers will take you for an idiot. Have fun!

I have had both of the cars you mention Skyline R32 and R33 ,R32 better but old now
Had Evo 5 for couple of years thrashed the hell out of it and it put up with more abuse and was more sure footed in the wet and cheaper to run.
My Choice would be the Mitsi if you want to contact me over the phone i would be pleased to give you my views.

Just add a bit to the pot, I've not had both but a good mate has. He had an R33 for a couple of years, got it up to about 600bhp and used to have fun destroying pretty much everything on the motorway. Then he got bored, sold it and has a 370bhp Evo 5. He much prefers the Evo, it's nowhere near as quick in a straight line, but the Skyline was just too big to have fun anywhere other than on the motorway. Yes you could hustle it pretty quickly down a decent A road, but on those or decent B roads, the Evo is much more chuckable and you're not constantly worrying that you're about to collect some scenery if you're not very careful.

Don't agree that the skyline is too big, I competed at a fiddly little airfield sprint course with our integrale and a Skyline set fastest time of the day, beating some pretty fancy machinery, for instance a well built Mk2 escort, five linked and cosworth powered would normally completely destroy any rice rocket, and the Skyline in question looked like a showboat, too! <p>Proved to me that a Skyline is limited only by it's drivers ability, and the size of his wallet, and can beat anything if both are good enough!. The Evo doesnt quite have that wow factor, despite it's ability.

Evo is a pretty big car too, side by side to a skyline there isn't much in it. Evos rally breeding do make it more sure footed on a tight, wet B-road, the skyline has that 'road dominator' thing going on-100% depends on what you want from a car.
I don't necessarily agree that a skyline is more expensive to run, yes parts can be expensive & not always readily to hand, but you kinda get to know where to look for what after a while. Servicing every 4.5kmiles or so is a big pain for Evo owners, financially.
Imo an Evo needs alot more tlc than a 'liner.

Parts for skylines are a joke....Be prepared to have your pants pulled down on anything that is for a Skyline.
The Evo is better for parts as it now has a US market so prices are lower.
