Good work.
i am also a new S13 & SXOC'er, but have been a Japchatter for a while (on and off)
I was reading a good article on www.trampdrift.com/ about welded diff's. Very good VFM way of getting drift spec diff, but not too good for daily driving etc.
Depends what you want to use it for??
Anyway, enjoy the new motor, I know I am!!

Sounds like Tramp Drift is your sort of place then
I'd love to see those cars they use at D1, it'd be hilarious.
The only drifting I've ever seen in person was at Rotorstock, and IIRC it was all 200sx's in the drift arena (exc Cptsideways's MX5)
Now I've got one, I think its only right I make the effort to go along to more this year!!!

Hi T-T. Yes I had a welded diff on my slammed Volvo 940 Turbo
(gap for everyone to stop laughing) so I know what I'm letting myself in for!
Oh and hi!
I had one of those for a while, with the so-called over boost button on the gear knob.Quite a good drive despite the size/weight.
Apparently the are a few interchangeable parts with the S13, like the intercooler & rad.Feel free to shoot me down in flames if I'm wrong here tho

The injectors on the S13 make quite a loud ticking sound. Some cars had an LSD as standard, IIRC they had an orange sticker on the diff casing. Or you can just boot it in a large car park with some lock applied...
Ha ha yes, it's 11 miles home from where I bought it and I knew it was open diff before I got home!
Thanks for reassurance on ticking, though.

yes the lowered volvo with the funny button drew many admiring laughs... but there was an ownership gap, it never cohabited with the S13. Don't know about the rad, but yes there are definately some s!3 about with Volvo intercoolers. Mine has a Saab one, and a shiney aftermarket rad with a name i've forgotten. Cheers, Dean

The only bit I know of (so far) is the FMIC, and from what I have read on various "how to" sites, not that difficult to fit either.
If I keep this car for more than 4 months, its something I'd consider.
For some reason I always end up selling cars after about 4 or 5 months. No idea why.
Its not that they were bad cars (far from it), I just always sell them.
If I can get a few more mpg out of mine (SXOC suspect timing is out) I can see myself keeping this, as its the right size (not just a 2 seater like the MK1 MR2, but not as big as the Range Rover), fast, fun to drive, cheap to insure (cheaper than the Golf, but the golf was modified) and not too bad on fuel (23mpg, hpoing to get up toward 30 on a long run)
And there are lots of bits to do to it as well!!!

Chris from sxoc in reading threatens to sort out fule consumption, and then hey, you're halfway there, seee you at Haynes?
Haynes??
I'm going to check the timing this weekend (have taken Sat & Monday off work) along with changing big ends shells and new alternator belt, pas belt, oil & filter, new thermostat. And after all that, I'll see about getting my stereo to work and possible try to clean up my alloys as well
